12-year-old Sbahle has been diagnosed with T-Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and needs your help to find a matching stem cell donor. You could be his lifesaver!
Londiwe first noticed her son, Sbahle, wasn’t his usual self when he was frequently vomiting, had a sore stomach, and couldn’t hold down food after meals, followed by him peeing blood. This happened around December 2023, when Sbahle was visiting his mom in Durban for the holidays after staying with his grandmother in Eshowe.
For Londiwe, seeing her son like this was a far cry from the joyful, bright, sweet, and understanding child he was before. After taking him for a check-up, it was at Dr Pixley Ka Isaka Seme Memorial Hospital that Sbahle was diagnosed with T-Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.
He was referred to Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital, where he received treatment from December 2023 to May 2024, and was unable to attend school. Now, he is an outpatient, spending an average of 5-10 days admitted when necessary.
Caring for Sbahle has not been easy for Londiwe, as she had to leave her job to focus fully on his well-being. Being a mother of 5 also means she has to ensure her other children are well cared for too. 👩👦
Londiwe admits that understanding the gravity of her son’s condition was hard, and at times, she felt like giving up due to a lack of support.
Londiwe has found herself in debt while trying to support her family, often traveling for Sbahle's appointments and hospital visits. 🚗💰
You could be Sbahle’s lifesaver.
