Imagine being 12-year-old and receiving a life-altering blood disorder diagnosis that turns your world upside down. This was Linemihle's reality. She was diagnosed with Fanconi Anaemia, and her only chance at survival rests on finding a matching stem cell donor.
Linemihle’s journey began with her mom, Nombulelo, who noticed her daughter was constantly tired and very fatigued. When Linemihle couldn't walk anymore, that was when Nombulelo sought medical help, leading to the devastating diagnosis of Fanconi Anaemia. Once a lively child who enjoyed playing games, Linemihle's life turned upside down.
As her only child, Nombulelo wishes to see Linemihle grow and live a fulfilling life. “Linemihle is all I have. I wish I could take her illness and carry it myself because no parent should see their child go through such a tough thing,” added Nombulelo.
Despite passing grade 6 last year, Linemihle faces significant challenges in grade 7 due to weeks missed for treatment. Regular blood transfusions also lead to long recovery times between hospital visits while managing schoolwork. Nombulelo does her best to provide, but finances are a major concern, especially with frequent travel for treatment.
If you are between the ages of 17-55 and in good health, you could be the perfect stem cell match Linemihle needs.
Currently, there is no match for her on the stem cell registry, meaning Linemihle’s perfect match has not yet registered. SHARE this virtual drive and encourage your friends to become lifesavers.
Remember, all costs related to the donation process are taken care of by DKMS Africa. You will not be asked to pay for anything.
